After it is removed restart your computer and then try to install the latest version Java. If this too fails then the next option will be to reinstall Windows Installer.

091209 I spent about 6 hours with Windows Vista support. I tried using the recommended fix, it didn't work, and the multiple Windows technicians they tried to do the same thing.

Basically it is a corrupted Java file update. I am unable to remove the file, or update to a newer version. I was advised to re install the Java 6 Update 12 or 13, and then update to newest Java. Easier said than done. I can't find an older version to Java, and Java support is non existent.
